I am not sure, cherie, other than that, perhaps, they must be of a correct type, etc, to be transported so as not to be explosive, fire hazards...kind of makes you nervous, though!
a gas bottle?.. hhmm?.. may be its a bottle that has gas in it so you'll have an extra gas available in case you run out of gas in the middle of nowhere with no gas station.. haha.. LOL.. duh, that sign makes me dumb..
Hey Cherie, I am from Virginia, and I have never seen a sign like that in my life! LOL..It must be something pertaining to flammable items you might be carrying in your vehicle...I cannot imagine anything else it could mean? Like RNSANE said, hazardous material, or something to that effect? If you happen to find out...let us know, ok!
"Gas bottles", well I guess that would be bottles made of gas, but how can you inspect them when a gas is typically colorless and therefore not visible? Sheesh!
I think they are talking about the gas bottles that are on RV's and other vehicles. Its like the kind you get filled for gas grills. Usually the signs are before tunnels, just want to make sure there are no leaks so it they are safe.

Actually those are pressurized propane or butane tanks, usually found on campers or mobile homes. Since they are pressurized and you are entering a military area, they might be used as a destructive device on bridges or tunnels.
I hope they didn't mean laughing gas which is orange? coz I don't mean to put it in a bottle. Hahahah...nice post cherie and thanks for supporting Tink on our meme.
I'm passing this on to you who are reading this. Please take it home with you to put on your sidebar. And then please pass it on, too! Everybody needs one!

What does it mean? Gas bottles? If it's drinking bottles, it would mean they will be keeping an eye on drinking drivers.

i think for those who carry spare gas bottles or jugs with them. Might be subject for inspection for a safer drive.
i am really not sure if that's it but who knows? hehe

I hope they didn't mean laughing gas which is orange? coz I don't mean to put it in a bottle. Hahahah...nice post cherie and thanks for supporting Tink on our meme.
