My Weekend Memoirs

We spent some time with friends over some traditional food. Below are two of my favorites. Please bear with me, if you don't like them.
Philippine rice cake, wrapped in banana leaves

Fish stew, with garden-fresh vegetables

US residents, let's enjoy our long Labor Day Weekend!

oh, glad to see you have a good long weekend Che. can i have some of your fish stew? :)

Oh, I am taking a break from all my case analysis, reading assignments, classroom preparations and will go to Sea World :)

I can see you Cherie and hubby and wow the food is appetizing! The suman is perfectly wrapped. One time I ventured making suman, but it lacked gata. so i have to find fresh banana leaves and do it one more time.

The sinigang na bangus is so so so .... yummy!

sure thing! c'mon over, stacy! bring princess nagger along!

my dear Icy, come along! plenty enough for JJ and Rocco, too!

had a marvelous time with friends, ms. betsy! thank you, ma'am!

if ever you meet Filipinos, the rice cake is called 'suman, and the fish stew is 'sinigang na isda,' steph! you should try them!

we might have gotten the tradition from you, rainfield!

you're so welcome, ate ebie! well, head on over to the nearest store and buy some bangus and sinigang mix! i eat my suman right off the stove, hahaha!

thanks, ms. monique. and no, just friends. we'll make quite a crowd for middle ditch, hahaha!

himo na, marissa, madalion man lang. basi maruyagun sana si frank...

c,mon over, LV, plenty enough for you!

masiranun man daw ina, melodie, nainggit man nanggad ako. niyan ka, pan-o ko baga pasabuton ini si aristotle kun nano an binut-ong para malutuan ako, hmmm...

i am glad you're here, scarlet - i was over at wences' site, and i think he wrote something passionate, but for the life of me, i couldn't and will never be able to make heads nor tails about it - to my disadvantage. i feel terrible. but, come back, dear, and tell me what you find out while i serve you rice cake.

yeah, you deserve a break, beth! i will look forward to more pictures, then! when you come back, i'll serve you steaming hot sinigang!

sometimes we don't use gata anymore, for lack of time, but i agree, gata (coconut milk) adds flavor to it. sinigang is one of the kids' favorites so it's a staple in the kitchen table! thank you, ate inday! good luck on the suman-making!

i was just at your site, willa! thank you for the drop by! your kids know how to appreciate good food, then! God bless you!

THANK YOU, EVERYONE! 'ANOTHER DAY IS GONE!' BE SAFE!
